Some say art is an expression of life. Some say art is our projection of life. Vittorio M Bianchi presents his object, over life, reducing the complexity into lines and colours. Bianchi’s colours are three: blue, yellow, red; nothing else. Instead of having these oil colours painted over canvas (traditionally), the 3 bright colours are stroked over print-out iPhone photos. Why oil paint? Why not acrylic or poster? The latter two surely match better with iPhone generation, than oil paint from ancient history. The artist’s reason is direct: “oil paints are ‘life’.” Just like Milanese resding their modern life in the centenary-old city, the idea of oil paint over iPhone prints leads to a story of fusion - a fusion of the old and the new. The photos are a sequence, presenting Milan’s midnight, while the life dorms but the iWorld is still alive. This is Vittorio M Bianchi, and his interpretation of “life.”
